An STLA membership provides you with many valuable benefits. Take a look at just some of them:

Legal Education - Conferences, Teleseminars & Webinars
STLA has become known for staging conferences and telephone seminars of the highest caliber. Our members get the opportunity to hear from local, national and international experts on a variety of topics. Some recent presenters have included Mr. Edward Greenspan, Q.C., Mr. John Rosen and Justice Bastarache of the Supreme Court of Canada. Our presenters have shared their insights on all aspects of litigation: from pleadings to closing arguments and everything in between and beyond, including appellate advocacy. STLA is a pre-approved CDP provider with the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Upcoming programs are listed under our Events tab.

The Saskatchewan Advocate
Our quarterly publication addresses new case law and trends in the law, practice tips and topics of general interest to all litigation lawyers. The publication includes articles by authors in our own ranks and others including members of the bench, law professors, accountants, engineers, and health care professionals.

Legal Connections
Our members include some of the Province’s most respected litigation lawyers. Networking with other STLA members provides an excellent opportunity to gain insight and advice on legal issues.
The STLA “Mentor Program” was established to provide our members with a confidential forum to seek guidance and assistance from some of our more experienced members. This program is aimed at insuring that the public continues to receive quality legal services and to support and encourage STLA lawyer members. It is operated through the STLA office of the Executive Director during regular business hours.

Expert Witness Database
You can save time by accessing the Association’s online expert witness database 24 hours a day through or contact the office directly with your request during regular business hours. You can also share your knowledge of expert witnesses by making recommendations for additions to the database.

STLA Membership On-Line Database and Printed Directory
The STLA Membership Directory contains alphabetical and geographical listings of all members along with other important legal information. You can also access a member’s contact information though our password protected “member’s only” section of our website.

STLA Judicial Court Liaison Committee
Committee members meet with representatives of the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal, Court of Queen’s Bench and Provincial Court on a regular basis; to identify and deal with concerns of the members of the Judiciary and of the Bar. The mandate of this Committee is to identify solutions or initiatives for improvement of court administration and procedure; and to maintain positive relations between the Bench and the Bar.

STLA Law Reform Committee
Proposed changes to legislation in Saskatchewan are reviewed and scrutinized by this committee. Recommendations will be made to the Board of Governors on the position to take in response to any proposed legislative change with briefs being presented to the Governments in support or opposition of proposed changes.
