About Us
The Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association (STLA) was incorporated in 1985 at a meeting of its founding directors in Saskatoon. The organization was created to respond to an ever-increasing demand for advocacy training and resources in Saskatchewan.
The STLA is a voluntary professional legal association whose objectives are:
- to uphold and defend the tenets of democracy
- to promote the administration of justice for the public good
- to advance the cause of those who are damaged in person or property and who must seek redress
- to uphold and improve the adversary system and trial by jury
- to advance the science of jurisprudence
- to train in all fields and phases of advocacy
- to uphold the honour and dignity of the profession of law
- to encourage collegiality among the members of the bar
Our membership is very broad-based, open to lawyers both inside and outside the province, and also to law and articling students, judges, and non-lawyers in special categories. We thank all of our members for their ongoing support, and welcome all those interested in becoming part of this vibrant and important organization.
