Membership Categories

A Regular Lawyer member who has a been a voting member for at least one year who wishes to provide additional support to the Association by paying the additional fees for Sustaining membership; and have at least the same rights and privileges of a Regular Member and receive such additional benefits as the Board of Governors may direct from time to time.

 

A lawyer member in good standing of the Law Society of Saskatchewan or members of a reciprocating province who enjoys temporary or part-time court privileges in Saskatchewan and is committed to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized; who adheres to the objectives of the Association to which the member has subscribes in writing; and, who has paid the required dues within the allowed timelines. In the course of their overall practice they do not, for the most part, represent the insurers or the defence of personal injury, fatal accident, occupiers liability, motor vehicle litigation, or other tort litigation, and who for the most part, represent the interests of the Crown, federal or provincial. Regular Members shall be entitled to vote at all meetings of members as set forth in the By-laws.

Associate Lawyer members are non-voting, cannot hold office and may be excluded from meetings of the Association.

Students who have received a degree in law from an accredited law school or college and has been approved by the Law Society of Saskatchewan as an articled Student at Law, and wish to be a non-voting member of the Association.

 

Professors of law in the Province of Saskatchewan who wish to be a non-voting member of the Association.

 

A person who, in the regular course of their employment or business, provides services to STLA regular lawyer members who wish to be a non-voting member of the Association. Neither the person nor the institution they represents is engaged in activities contrary to the goals and objectives of the Association.

 

 

A university student enrolled in fulltime studies at the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan, who meets the general criteria for Non-Lawyer membership and wishes to be a non-voting member of the Association.

 

A person who meets the general criteria for Non-Lawyer membership, that works directly for and is supervised by an STLA voting member in good standing and wishes to be a non-voting member of the Association.
